TEATR DADA VON BZDÜLÖW
"INTRO"
Sunday, 14th May, 18:00
Choreography, performance: Katarzyna Chmielewska, Katarzyna Ustowska, Leszek Bzdyl, Piotr Stanek
Lights: Michał Kołodziej
Duration: 60 min
The Intro spectacle was realised for two basic reasons: it's an answer to the current socio-political situation in Poland and makes references to the centennial of DADA movement. The show presentation on the stages of drama theatres, chosen in regard to their repertoires openness, is an opportunity to start the discussion with the audience about the role of dance in both - aesthetic (Dadaism) and socio-political dimension. There are two young dancers performing: Katarzyna Ustowska (a graduate of Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt/Main) and Piotr Stanek (a graduate of Dance Faculty in Bytom).

In December 2017 Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre from Gdańsk will celebrate its 25th anniversary of existence. The theatre was founded by Leszek Bzdyl and Katarzyna Chmielewska in 1992 in Gdańsk was one of the first Polish groups promoting new dance and dance theatre after 1989r. It managed to mix the tradition of Polish theatre with American and European experiences in a very unique way and in a short period of time it created an exceptional and recognisable language of the stage speech. Continuously working for 25 years the group has created nearly 50 performances, which became a part of Polish dance and theatre history and, most importantly, have been an inspiration for the creative activity of successive generations of choreographers and dancers.
